Županja hosts 6th annual Jozo Ilijić Memorial

The 6th annual Jozo Ilijić Memorial was held in Županja at the NK Graničar stadium. The event honors Jozo Ilijić, the youngest member of the Delta Special Police Unit Županja, who died on August 5, 1995, during Operation Storm in Gračac.

The commemoration began with the laying of wreaths and flowers at Ilijić’s grave. Following the ceremony, a small-sided football tournament was held in two categories: youth and veterans. Participating teams included NK Graničar, NK Radnički, ŠN NOPO, Delta Special Police Unit Županja, and various veterans' associations from Brod-Posavina and Posavina.

Deputy Prefect of Vukovar-Srijem County, Darko Dimić, attended the event, emphasizing the importance of preserving the memory of Homeland War heroes for younger generations through both commemorative acts and community sports.
