Upcoming art exhibitions scheduled for 2026 in Japan
Several art exhibitions are scheduled to take place in Japan throughout 2026, featuring diverse mediums including painting, ceramics, and specialized wall art.
Haruki Ogawa will hold a solo exhibition titled ‘Continuum’ at Harmas Gallery from July 25 to September 26, 2026. The exhibition explores the illusion of three-dimensional space on flat surfaces using various supports and materials, including stainless steel and transparent resin.
In October 2026, Matsuzakaya Shizuoka will host ‘Journey to Paradise,’ a solo exhibition by Kei Naganuma from October 21 to 27. This marks Naganuma’s first solo show since moving to Shizuoka, featuring works created with a unique ‘mica wall painting’ technique that depicts harmonious scenes of nature, animals, and plants.
Additionally, Matsuzakaya Nagoya will present ‘Kanma Fushii Ceramic Exhibition — Real Fantasy Part 3’ from October 28 to November 3, 2026. The exhibition showcases ceramic works inspired by living creatures, including a life-sized Napoleonfish that took over six months to create.
