UPDF 3 Infantry Division Commander urges troops to uphold discipline

Brig Gen Michael Walaka Hyeroba, Commander of the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) 3 Infantry Division, has called on troops to prioritize discipline, professionalism, and continuous training. During his first official baraza at the division headquarters in Moroto, Hyeroba emphasized that adhering to military rules and regulations is essential for the institution's effectiveness and credibility.

His command aims to consolidate peace and stability across the Karamoja, Teso, and Elgon sub-regions, with a focus on protecting civilians and their property.

Additionally, the UPDF announced its support for the upcoming Ateker Cultural Gala. Hyeroba described the six-day festival as a peace and security platform intended to strengthen relations among communities with shared historical ties. The event is expected to draw over 30,000 participants from East Africa, including the Turkana from Kenya, Toposa from South Sudan, Nyangatom from Ethiopia, and the Karimojong, Iteso, Lango, and Jie from Uganda.
