UPES invests in deepfake detection startup and hosts cybersecurity conference

UPES Runway, the startup incubator at UPES, has invested ₹25 lakh in Reagvis Labs, a deep-tech startup specializing in AI-based tools for deepfake detection, document forgery identification, and digital identity verification. Founded by Dr. Sachin Chaudhary and Dr. Praful Hambarde, the company focuses on verifying the authenticity of media, including image, video, and audio files, to address enterprise needs for digital content authentication and KYC processes.

In a related development in the cybersecurity sector, UPES hosted the International Conference on Advancement in Cyber Security and Digital Forensics (ICACSDF 2026). Sponsored by the IEEE Uttar Pradesh Section, the conference addressed emerging threats such as AI-related vulnerabilities and quantum cryptography. The event highlighted a significant rise in cyber incidents, noting that India recorded 29.44 lakh cybersecurity incidents in 2025, a nearly 44 per cent increase from the previous year.
