Uphold introduces instant crypto‑collateral loans for US customers
Uphold, a San Francisco‑based fintech, announced a new service that lets U.S. retail users obtain instant cash loans by pledging crypto assets as collateral through the Exactly DeFi Protocol. Eligible collateral includes Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP and USDC, and loans are issued within minutes without any credit checks. Once approved, USDC is credited to the borrower’s Uphold account and can be converted to USD. The product has no minimum loan amount, offers fixed rates starting at 4.28 % APR, and allows flexible repayment schedules, including the option to defer the full loan and interest.
The offering is integrated with Uphold’s app and its Exa Credit Card, giving customers the choice to spend loan proceeds on the card or receive USDC directly. CEO Simon McLoughlin said the service provides liquidity for the roughly 67 million Americans who own cryptocurrency, allowing them to meet short‑term needs without selling their digital assets.
