UPI AutoPay enables automated recurring payments via e-Mandates
UPI AutoPay, introduced by the NPCI in 2020, allows users to automate recurring payments such as OTT subscriptions, electricity bills, EMIs, insurance premiums, and mutual funds through e-Mandates. This feature reduces the need for manual monthly or yearly transactions and helps prevent missed payment deadlines.
Users can set up these mandates using supported UPI applications, including Google Pay and PhonePe. To ensure transparency, the system provides a Pre-Debit Notification (PDN) at least 24 hours before an automated debit occurs. While limits vary by service provider, certain payments like credit card bills or insurance may have an AutoPay limit of up to 1 lakh rupees. Users must maintain sufficient account balances to ensure successful transactions.
