UPI expands international reach to UAE and Singapore
The Unified Payments Interface (UPI) is expanding its global footprint through partnerships led by NPCI International Payments Limited (NIPL). Indian travelers can now use UPI apps for online bookings at major tourist attractions, including the Burj Khalifa in the UAE and Resorts World Sentosa in Singapore.
In the UAE, NIPL has partnered with NEOPAY and Emaar Entertainment, making the Burj Khalifa the first attraction in the country to accept UPI for e-commerce transactions. In Singapore, a partnership with FOMO Pay enables UPI acceptance at attractions such as Universal Studios Singapore and Adventure Cove Waterpark.
As of August 2026, UPI services are available in 11 countries for merchant payments or cross-border remittances. These include Singapore, UAE, France, Bhutan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Mauritius, Qatar, Cambodia, Greece, and the Maldives. Uzbekistan is also set to join the list following a recent agreement with its National Interbank Processing Centre (NIPC).
