UPL challenges Zamora housing fund execution in Castilla y León

The Unión del Pueblo Leonés (UPL) has filed an initiative in the Cortes of Castilla y León to demand explanations regarding housing policies in the province of Zamora. The regionalist party has criticized the regional government for what it describes as a ‘showcase policy’ regarding social housing rehabilitation.

According to data from the 2026 Budget Project, UPL reports that only 87,022 euros were executed in 2025 out of the 524,143 euros allocated for rehabilitating homes for social rental within the Territorial Cohesion Fund. This represents an execution rate of approximately 17%, leaving over 437,000 euros unspent. The party also questioned a protocol signed with the Provincial Council that lacks a specific budget allocation.
