UPMC completes acquisition of Trinity Health System in Ohio

UPMC has completed its acquisition of the Ohio-based Trinity Health System from Chicago-based CommonSpirit Health. The transaction, finalized as of October 1, 2026, expands UPMC’s footprint into the Ohio Valley.

The acquisition includes several facilities: Trinity West and Trinity East campuses in Steubenville, Ohio; Trinity Twin City Medical Center in Dennison, Ohio; and Trinity St. Clairsville Neighborhood Hospital in St. Clairsville, Ohio. The deal also encompasses all associated clinics and care sites.

UPMC CEO Leslie Davis stated the integration aims to serve communities with innovation and compassion while advancing care close to home. While the terms of the deal were not disclosed, the move adds multiple care centers to UPMC’s existing network of over 40 hospitals and 800 outpatient facilities.
