Upminster business closed after £10,000 illegal tobacco seizure

An Upminster business has been ordered to close for three months following a joint investigation by Havering Council’s trading standards team and the Metropolitan Police. During an unannounced raid on the 7 Days Convenience Store on Corbets Tey Road, authorities seized £10,000 worth of illegal tobacco, cigarettes, shisha, and hand-rolling tobacco.

Following the investigation, Barkingside Magistrates Court granted a closure order, meaning the premises must remain closed until December 1, 2026. Officials stated the seizure was intended to remove products that pose significant health risks to residents and to deter organized criminality on local high streets.
