Upper Austria celebrates Advent with various Christmas markets

Upper Austria is hosting a variety of Advent traditions and Christmas markets across its cities. Linz offers cultural experiences at the Lentos, Schlossmuseum, and Ars Electronica Center, alongside a new snack pass for market visitors.

Wels has been named the first German-speaking 'European City of Christmas 2026' and will feature three Alpine markets, a light path, and a special installation in the Ledererturm from November 13 to December 24. In Steyr, visitors can explore the first Austrian Christmas Museum, while St. Wolfgang features a scenic market and a special train service to the Schafberg.

Other regional highlights include the 'Kripperlroas' in Ebensee, 'Bergweihnacht' in Gosau, and light forests in the Danube region. Additionally, Hochburg-Ach will host a traditional crafts market from December 11 to 13, honoring the home of 'Silent Night' composer Franz Xaver Gruber.
