Attersee police boat checks uncover safety violations and drunken drivers

On 29 July 2026 the Police Inspection Schörfling am Attersee carried out extensive boat inspections on the Attersee between 15:30 and 21:30. Officers examined 15 motorboats and seven sailing vessels for compliance with the navigation law.

Fourteen infractions were recorded, all due to missing mandatory safety equipment, and were reported to the authorities. In addition, six breath‑alcohol screenings and three full alcohol tests were performed. All three alcohol tests were positive, measuring 0.58 ‰, 0.80 ‰ and 0.76 ‰, and the drivers involved were ordered to stop their voyages.

One female motor‑boat operator was also found operating a water‑craft without the required permit during the motor‑boat summer ban and registered a blood‑alcohol level of 0.76 ‰. Her continuation on the water was likewise prohibited.
