Upper Austria offers free public transport for families in September
Families in Upper Austria can utilize public transportation for free during the upcoming ‘Family Public Transport Days’ on September 5, 6, 19, and 20. The initiative, organized by the Upper Austria Family Office and the Upper Austria Transport Association, provides 1,500 free leisure tickets per action day.
To participate, holders of the Upper Austria Family Card must download a free ticket via the official website or app. The ticket allows up to two adults and four children under the age of 15 to use regional and city transport throughout Upper Austria, including parts of the Salzkammergut region. The offer excludes long-distance trains and the Pöstlingbergbahn in Linz.
Officials stated that the program aims to encourage families to use public transit by demonstrating its convenience and ease of use. Deputy Governor and Family Referent Manfred Haimbuchner noted the importance of supporting families, while Mobility Councilor Günther Steinkellner emphasized that the initiative is designed to inspire new users of public transportation.
