Upper Austrian brass music associations honor local musicians
The Upper Austrian Brass Music Association (OÖBV) held award ceremonies in October 2026 to recognize musical achievement and long-term commitment within regional ensembles.
At an event in Bad Ischl, members of the Werkskapelle Laufen Gmunden-Engelhof received various honors, including five newly established gold merit orders. Recipients of the gold merit order included Franz Prentner, Bruno Leb, Karl Loitelsberger, Hermann Strauss, and Franz Schindlauer. Other awards presented to the group included a gold merit cross for Johann Ohler, a silver honor for Sigfried Zimmermann, and various gold, silver, and bronze merit medals.
In a separate ceremony in Sipbachzell, twelve members of the Musikverein Krenglbach were awarded performance badges. These distinctions, ranging from Junior to Silver levels, recognized musicians for their technical skill and regular practice. The awards were presented as part of a larger district event in Wels-Land that honored 173 musicians in total.
