Upper Bavaria bus collision investigation targets driver
Authorities in Upper Bavaria are investigating a transit bus driver for suspected negligent homicide following a fatal collision between two buses in June.
A preliminary expert report indicates that the driver of a transit bus drifted into the oncoming lane while navigating a curve near Hebertshausen in the Dachau district. The vehicle then collided with a tour bus carrying children from the municipality of Haimhausen.
The accident resulted in the death of one primary school student and left dozens of others injured, including a teacher. While the report suggests the driver entered the wrong lane, investigators are still working to determine the exact reason for the maneuver. The Munich II Public Prosecutor's Office has commissioned a second expert report to further the investigation.
