Upper Hunter to host 2026 Wellbeing Week
The Upper Hunter region will host Wellbeing Week 2026 from October 26-31. Organized by Where there's a Will (WTAW), the community-wide initiative aims to prioritize mental health visibility and improve the community's ability to recognize and support individuals facing mental health challenges.
The program seeks to extend wellbeing literacy from schools into workplaces, sporting clubs, and families. Local students from several institutions, including Muswellbrook High School, Scone High School, and Merriwa Central School, are leading individual programs within their schools. These student leaders recently met with Upper Hunter MP Dave Layzell to discuss their community efforts.
A primary objective of the upcoming week is to increase the number of individuals trained in Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) throughout the Upper Hunter region.
