Upper West Regional Chief Imam’s Fund supports 61 students

The Upper West Regional Chief Imam’s Educational Endowment Fund has disbursed GH¢138,536 to support 61 academically promising but financially disadvantaged students for the 2026/2027 academic year. This represents a 38.6 per cent increase in beneficiaries compared to the 44 students supported in the previous academic year.

The beneficiaries, selected through interviews and assessments, are pursuing various tertiary programmes across the country, including medicine, pharmacy, engineering, law, and information technology. The fund was established in October 2022 to address growing appeals for financial assistance from families facing poverty and low educational attainment in the Upper West Region.

Dr. Seidu Moomin, the Fund’s Council Secretary, confirmed that all school fees were fully settled as of October 23, 2026. Beneficiaries expressed that the scholarship serves as a vital lifeline, allowing them to continue their studies in fields such as political science and business studies without the immediate threat of deferring their programmes due to financial hardship.
