UPS opens $80M logistics hub at Clark International Airport
United Parcel Service (UPS) has officially opened a new logistics hub at Clark International Airport in the Philippines, representing an investment of over $80 million. The 30,000-square-meter facility is approximately 15 times larger than the company’s previous hub in the area and serves as its largest investment to date in Asia.
The new facility is designed to increase processing capacity, with the ability to handle up to 15,000 packages per hour and an average daily volume of approximately 46,000 packages. It includes specialized infrastructure for temperature-sensitive cargo, such as healthcare and high-tech shipments, featuring refrigeration and freezer units capable of maintaining temperatures between -20°C and 25°C.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. attended the opening ceremony, noting that efficient logistics are vital for the archipelagic nation to ensure the movement of essential goods like food and medicine. He highlighted that logistics expenses account for an average of 27% of business sales in the Philippines, one of the highest rates in Southeast Asia. The hub is expected to shorten delivery times by up to two days on specific routes connecting Southeast Asia to major markets in Asia Pacific, India, Europe, and the United States.
