UPSA and IMANI launch SYPALA 2026 for African youth
The University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) and the IMANI Center for Policy and Education have launched the 12th Students and Young Professionals African Liberty Academy (SYPALA 2026). The four-day event, held from August 24 to 28, 2026, brings together 100 young people from across the African continent.
Under the theme “Africa’s Ascent: Forging Resilient Economies and Inclusive Governance,” the academy focuses on addressing the continent's economic and governance challenges. Discussions include structural obstacles to economic transformation, market diversification, and the role of innovation in driving prosperity.
UPSA Vice-Chancellor Prof. John Kwaku Mensah Mawutor emphasized the need for young leaders to move beyond being passive recipients of opportunities to becoming active problem-solvers. IMANI Founding President Franklin Cudjoe also noted that Africa's economic success will depend on the quality of ideas and the ability to implement them practically.
