UPSA hosts grant-writing workshop and digital assets regulation roundtable in Ghana

The University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) conducted a two‑day Grant Writing and Proposal Development Workshop on 28‑29 July 2026. Facilitated by Professor Charles K. D. Adjasi and Professor Ibrahim Mohammed, the programme equipped selected academic staff with skills to identify funding opportunities, interpret funders’ priorities and craft competitive research proposals. Registrar Lorraine Gyan and Pro Vice‑Chancellor Emmanuel S. Asamoah highlighted the initiative as part of UPSA’s strategic drive to expand externally funded research and advance national development.

In a separate event, UPSA’s Law School, in partnership with Absa Bank Ghana, organised the 14th Absa‑UPSA Law School Quarterly Banking Roundtable on the theme “Digital Assets Regulation in Ghana: Navigating Opportunities and Risks”. The forum featured Bank of Ghana’s Virtual Assets Department representative Tahiru Alhassan, who explained the new Virtual Asset Service Providers Act’s risk‑based, technology‑neutral approach, emphasizing consumer protection, capital adequacy and anti‑money‑laundering requirements. Experts noted the legislation could boost investor confidence and banking access while warning of challenges such as fraud, compliance costs and stablecoin risks.
