UPT20 League to expand to more cities in Uttar Pradesh

The UPT20 League 2026 is scheduled to be held in Lucknow and Kanpur, with potential future expansion to cities such as Varanasi and Gorakhpur, according to Chairman Dr. Sanjay Kapoor. The announcement was made during the opening ceremony of the league's fourth season at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium.

During the event, which featured Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and BCCI Vice President Rajiv Shukla, Kapoor highlighted the success of the ‘Speed Hunt’ initiative. This grassroots scouting program aims to identify young cricket talent from rural areas without charging fees. Kapoor noted that players selected through this transparent process are participating in all six teams of the current season, with several receiving bids worth millions during the auction.
