Uptown Theatre restores film screenings in Utica

The historic Uptown Theatre in Utica is resuming movie screenings for the first time in over a decade. The return of the big screen is scheduled for the Halloween weekend, featuring a screening of ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’ on October 30 and ‘Hotel Transylvania’ on October 31.

Tickets for the screenings are priced at $7. The theater, which originally opened in December 1927, has been undergoing restoration since 2018 led by the Uptown Theatre for the Creative Arts (UTCA). Recent upgrades include a new digital projector, screen, and audio equipment supported by an Empire State Development grant.
