Uralla hosts 27th annual Thunderbolts Festival

Thousands of people attended the 27th annual Thunderbolts Festival in Uralla, hosted by the Uralla Rotary Club. The celebrations began on Saturday, October 24, with a poet's breakfast, followed by a parade along the New England Highway featuring motorcyclists, school floats, classic cars, and emergency service vehicles.

Approximately 2,500 people lined the main street for the parade before moving to Alma Park. Despite initial concerns regarding weather, the event enjoyed sunny skies and temperatures in the mid-20s. The festival included 40 market stalls, live music, and various activities for children, such as an inflatable assault course and rock climbing.

Local schools utilized food stalls as a major fundraiser, and the McMaugh's aged care auxiliary provided handmade treats. Festival director and Councillor Leanne Doran noted the high turnout and successful atmosphere before dark clouds arrived later in the day.
