Uralvagonzavod begins production of modernized BREM-80
Uralvagonzavod, a subsidiary of the Rostec state corporation, has announced the start of serial production for the modernized BREM-80 armored recovery vehicle. The vehicle has successfully completed testing and is already being delivered to Russian troops.
Developed using lessons learned from frontline combat, the upgraded BREM-80 features a mechanized towing system that allows the crew to attach recovery gear to damaged tanks from within the vehicle, reducing the risk of injury. The vehicle is built on a T-80 tank chassis and utilizes a gas-turbine engine capable of starting in temperatures as low as -40 degrees Celsius.
Additional upgrades include reinforced armor protection against artillery shells, drones, and cumulative warheads, as well as 'sixth-generation' radio equipment designed to resist electronic warfare and suppression.
