Urawa Reds sign two university defenders, while ex‑international Shoya Nakajima heads to Portugal

Urawa Red Diamonds announced on June 6 that university defenders Inagaki Atsushi (born 2005) and Tanaka Reon will join the J1 club in 2027 and 2029 respectively, with both players approved as JFA special designated players. Inagaki, a former Urawa youth and Meiji University defender, expressed his excitement to play at Saitama Stadium. Tanaka, a 19‑year‑old from Tokai University, also voiced his joy at starting his professional career with the club.

Former Japan international midfielder Shoya Nakajima, who left Urawa Reds in June 2023, is set to join Portuguese second‑division side Portimonense SC. The move awaits completion of his medical and the lifting of three transfer‑ban sanctions related to unpaid wages, which the club says have been settled.

These announcements detail Urawa Reds' upcoming player acquisitions and the pending departure of a former star to Europe.
