Urban and cultural development projects announced in Barranquilla and Cartagena

In Barranquilla, the District Mayor's Office has announced an integral intervention in the Rebolo neighborhood to transform the Don Bosco school area into an open-air museum. The project combines urban improvements, such as the rehabilitation of curbs, concrete slabs, and planters, with a large-scale artistic initiative. More than 40 artists will participate in a co-creation process with the community to transform 3,543 square meters of the school's perimeter walls into murals that tell the history and culture of the city.

In Cartagena, there are calls to expand the ‘Libraries that Transform’ initiative. Proponents suggest evolving the city's 18 public and community libraries into active neighborhood hubs. By extending services to parks, schools, and community centers, the goal is to foster social inclusion, literacy, and mental health support through culture and technology, following successful models seen in Nordic countries and other Colombian cities.
