Urban and cultural development projects underway in Oświęcim and Sandomierz
Various regional development and cultural preservation projects are underway in Poland. In Oświęcim, the city is investing in the renovation of municipal tenements to restore the historic Old Town. Current works at Plac Kościuszki 5 involve replacing window and door frames, roofing, and creating a new facade with decorative elements, a project costing over 1.3 million PLN. Additionally, the Oświęcim Social Housing Association is planning an expansion at ul. Jagiełły 22 to add 16 new apartments.
In Sandomierz, the Sandomierz Castle Museum is expanding its facilities by renovating four buildings at a former bakery on ul. 15 Sierpnia. This 79 million PLN modernization project, supported by nearly 50 million PLN in EU funding, will provide new exhibition spaces, conservation workshops, and offices. The expansion aims to move collections currently stored in the royal castle attic, freeing up space for new permanent exhibitions. The new museum facilities are expected to be available to the public by 2029.
