Urban development projects announced in Olomouc and Prague

New urban development projects are moving forward in Olomouc and Prague, focusing on multifunctional residential and public spaces.

In Olomouc, the former Soviet army social center at the Černá cesta housing estate is slated for redevelopment. The project, led by investor Galerie Hradisko (part of the o’home group), will transform approximately 5,000 square meters of land into apartments, shops, and services. An urban-architectural competition is expected to be announced in early December, with public participation encouraged through online questionnaires and meetings. The development aims to integrate new housing with improved public areas, sidewalks, and cycle paths along the Morava river.

In Prague's Libeň district, a winning design has been selected for a new multifunctional block near Elsnicovo náměstí. The proposal by Aulík Fišer Zalabák architekti and Lasovsky Johansson Architects, commissioned by Metrostav Development, draws inspiration from the historical urban structure of old Libeň. The plan includes two residential buildings, an administrative building, a public piazzetta, and green inner courtyards. A key feature of the design is a new pedestrian connection between the Libeň Bridge and the recreational banks of the Rokytka stream.
