Urban development projects underway in Elche and Renca

In Elche, Spain, workers have begun the careful dismantling of the facade of the historic Riegos el Progreso building. The project aims to recover the structure, which has been propped up for nearly a decade, and restore two lanes of traffic to the street. Historical elements will be cataloged and preserved for integration into a new municipal building. Construction of the new facility is expected to begin in early 2027 following geotechnical studies, with an estimated budget of 1.9 million euros.

In Renca, Chile, the Metropolitan Region Government and the Municipality have opened the bidding process for the Mirador y Sendero Cerros de Renca project. The initiative involves rehabilitating a 3.7-kilometer path and constructing a 360-degree viewpoint, three plazas, and green areas with native vegetation. The project, which is expected to benefit approximately one million people, is scheduled to begin in the first half of 2027 and aims to transform the hills into a major metropolitan park.
