Urban greenery projects expand in Rzeszów and Warsaw

Urban green spaces are undergoing significant revitalization in Poland through international cooperation and local redevelopment projects.

The ParksMatter project, funded by the Interreg NEXT Poland–Ukraine 2021–2027 program, has facilitated joint urban greenery management between Rzeszów and Iwano-Frankivsk. With a total value exceeding 1.16 million euros, the initiative has led to the revitalization of the historic Słocin manor park in Rzeszów. Improvements include the installation of 1,230 square meters of permeable paths, LED lighting, a floating aerating fountain, and the planting of 30 trees, 347 shrubs, and over 3,600 perennials.

In Warsaw, the reconstruction of Warsaw Insurgents' Square (Plac Powstańców Warszawy) has introduced new green zones, including a music garden and a pergola-covered area. The site now features approximately 14,000 plants, including nearly 60 trees such as silver lindens and Tatar maples. The redevelopment also includes musical instruments, trampolines, and specialized soil mixtures designed to support tree root growth beneath urban surfaces.
