Urban living trends spark social media interest in Balkans

Recent social media posts have highlighted unconventional uses of limited urban space in the Balkans. In Bosnia and Herzegovina, a photograph went viral showing a resident practicing beekeeping on an apartment balcony, featuring colorful beehives placed near windows. The image, shared via the Facebook profile ‘Squatting Slavs in Tracksuits’, has drawn attention to the intersection of traditional beekeeping and dense urban living.

In Belgrade, Serbia, an interior designer showcased a micro-apartment measuring only eight square meters. The design utilizes multifunctional furniture, including a wall bed that converts into a living area, a folding console table, and integrated storage solutions to accommodate a kitchen, bathroom, and sleeping area within the extremely compact footprint.
