Municipalities implement diverse safety and mobility measures
Various municipalities in Spain and Austria are implementing diverse public safety and mobility measures. In Figueres, authorities have deployed 450 personnel, including the Guàrdia Urbana and Mossos d’Esquadra, to manage the Acústica Festival. In Salou, police have launched the ‘Patina Segur’ campaign to regulate electric scooters and bicycles, with fines up to 800 euros for non-compliance.
In Barcelona, the Bicing service is adapting its charging parameters and logistics to prevent electric bike battery overheating during heatwaves. Meanwhile, in Tarragona and El Vendrell, local authorities are managing the aftermath of heavy rains, focusing on debris removal, infrastructure repair, and flood risk reduction. San Vicente del Raspeig has also initiated drone-assisted surveillance to combat illegal waste dumping.
In Lleida, police presence remains heightened at Parc sobre les Vies following recent unrest and arrests. Additionally, the Bicipalma bike-sharing service in the Balearic Islands has reported a 59.3% increase in users since 2023, driven by the expansion of service to all residents of the islands.
