Urban mobility advances through Intelligent Transport Systems in Spain and Colombia

Cities in Spain and Colombia are advancing the implementation of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) to modernize urban mobility and security.

In Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the city hosted the ITS Technical Conference to discuss digitalizing urban mobility. The municipality has secured 1.6 million euros in funding through the RedCyTI call for a project involving an intelligent platform for urban freight distribution. This tool aims to digitalize loading and unloading processes, improving logistics and public space management.

In Colombia, TransMilenio S.A. has spent eight years building a technological ecosystem for its public transport fleet. Since 2018, the system has integrated thousands of cameras, sensors, and telemetry devices. This technological expansion, which includes the installation of tens of thousands of cameras across trunk and zonal fleets, is designed to enhance security, optimize vehicle maintenance, and improve operational management through real-time monitoring.
