Urban mobility and parking issues spark debate in Poland

In Warsaw, a proposal by a Praga Południe district councilor has ignited debate regarding urban infrastructure. The councilor, associated with the Miasto Jest Nasze organization, suggested considering the demolition of the northern WZ overpass to restore the Royal Castle gardens, potentially replacing the roadway with a bicycle highway. Critics of the idea argue that removing such a vital communication route without thorough traffic analysis could lead to increased congestion and social costs for drivers, including service workers and commuters.

Meanwhile, in Wrocław, a new social initiative has launched to address the issue of unused vehicles occupying public parking spaces. A website, ilestoi.pl, allows residents to create a public map of vehicles that appear to be long-term stationary. Created by Michał Matuszewski, the platform uses a photo and geolocation-based reporting system. The project serves as an observational tool to highlight how much public space is occupied by non-moving cars, though the administrator notes that entries do not constitute a formal legal designation of abandoned vehicles.
