Urban mobility challenges in Neuquén and Guayaquil

In Neuquén, Argentina, drivers are facing increasing difficulties finding parking in the city center. Available spaces within the Automated Measured Parking System (SAEM) area often disappear by 8:00 AM, forcing motorists to search several blocks away. This shortage is attributed to a growing number of vehicles—with over 100,000 entering and exiting the capital daily—and significant roadworks, such as the Mosconi Avenue and Acceso Norte projects, which have altered traffic patterns.

Meanwhile, in Guayaquil, Ecuador, the municipal government is executing a structural recovery plan for central roadways. The Public Works Directorate is replacing aging asphalt with concrete on six key sections to better handle high volumes of buses and private vehicles. This includes a USD 4 million contract to recover 25 kilometers of roads in the central and southern sectors. Notable progress is being reported on streets such as Pedro Robles Chambers, Vacas Galindo, and Rumichaca, which involve not only road resurfacing but also the replacement of aging water and sewage infrastructure.
