Urban mobility improvements proposed in Comodoro Rivadavia and Alicante

Urban mobility challenges are driving new transport proposals in Comodoro Rivadavia and Alicante.

In Comodoro Rivadavia, Pablo Martorelli, president of the Instituto Argentino de Ferrocarriles, has suggested studying the implementation of a tramway system to alleviate growing traffic congestion. While reconstructing the city's old railway is not considered viable due to lost infrastructure, Martorelli noted that new routes within the urban area could be explored. He emphasized the need for guided transport alternatives as the number of vehicles per household continues to rise.

In Alicante, the city's new General Plan acknowledges deficiencies in the current public transport system, specifically noting a lack of integration between buses, TRAM, and rail services. The plan aims to reduce private vehicle dependency and address road congestion by creating interconnected nodes for seamless transfers. A key component of this strategy involves reorganizing public transport through a new structural axis centered on Avenida de Dénia to better connect neighborhoods and the airport.
