Urban planning disputes arise in Brolo and La Spezia

In Brolo, debate continues regarding the future of the Carrubera area near the municipal villa. Following a municipal council decision to transform approximately 2,350 square meters of land from a green zone to a residential completion zone, former council president Nino Ricciardello has proposed an alternative. Ricciardello suggests that the public entity should purchase the land from the Garofolo family at market value to preserve it as a collective green space, rather than allowing new construction.

In La Spezia, the Peracchini administration has rejected a motion concerning depaving, urban greenery, and climate oases. This decision has drawn criticism from local committees concerned about the city's waterfront development. Specifically, there are concerns regarding the Calata Paita area, which is slated to be split between a new cruise port terminal and a public space. Critics argue that the administration lacks a clear plan for the 45,000 square meters of public land and is instead focusing on international real estate marketing.
