Urban rental market trends and deceptive advertising practices

Recent reports highlight the challenges and personal strategies involved in the urban rental market. One individual, a 27-year-old worker, shared her experience of improving her living conditions by investing approximately 1,500 NDT (around 5.8 million VND) to renovate a rented room. Despite the space being old and lacking furniture, she personally installed new flooring and repainted the walls to create a more comfortable environment.

In contrast, other reports warn of deceptive practices within the rental market. Investigations into social media rental groups, specifically in the Tan Binh area of Ho Chi Minh City, reveal that real estate agents often use misleading advertisements. Potential tenants frequently encounter listings featuring well-furnished, bright rooms that, upon physical inspection, turn out to be small, windowless, or lacking the advertised amenities. Landlords have reportedly acknowledged that such photos are used by agents to attract customers.
