Urban transport initiatives launched in Cochabamba and Sinaloa

In Cochabamba, Bolivia, the Mayor's Office and the technology company Yango have announced a partnership to modernize urban transport through the “Cochabamba Ciudad Sostenible” initiative. The pilot program involves the introduction of 500 electric scooters for an eight-month trial period. These vehicles will operate in authorized zones and parking areas, with all operational, maintenance, and insurance costs covered by Yango. Additionally, the project includes the installation of 20 ecological solar stops, with the first eight scheduled for 2026 and the remainder in 2027.

In Sinaloa, Mexico, the Directorate of Roadways and Transport reported that the implementation of surveillance technology in urban buses has significantly improved safety. In Mazatlán, 100% of buses are equipped with GPS and panic buttons, resulting in zero recorded robberies. In Culiacán, over 75% of units feature video surveillance. Furthermore, the state has seen a 75% reduction in urban transport accidents following driving training programs conducted for 3,500 drivers in collaboration with Icatsin and Conalep.
