Global transit updates: Metro automation in Madrid and infrastructure progress in Bogotá and Seville

Various major metropolitan transit projects are progressing across Spain, Colombia, and Guatemala.

In Madrid, Metro de Madrid is conducting safety tests for the automation of Line 6. This involves scheduled 48-hour service interruptions on weekends, specifically between Cuatro Caminos and Lucero, on September 26-27 and October 3-4. Free replacement buses will be provided. Additionally, the regional government announced a Y-shaped branch for Line 1 to be operational by 2030, while Line 11 will follow a new diagonal route toward the northeast.

In Seville, construction on the Line 3 North Metro is advancing through complex tunnel excavation under the Hospital Virgen Macarena parking lot using the 'tunnel in mine' method. Four teams of screen-wall machines are currently deployed to manage the project's significant depth.

In Bogotá, the Metro Line 1 has reached 82.33% overall progress, with 18 kilometers of viaduct completed. Recent milestones include train testing on U-shaped beams in the Bosa and Kennedy districts.

In Guatemala, CableVía is installing Tower 17 for the AeroMetro project. The tower features a 10-degree inclination designed to maintain cable alignment without occupying additional space on Boulevard Liberación.
