Urbano Cairo plans sale of Torino football club as La7 confirms 2026‑27 lineup

Urbano Cairo, the long‑time owner of Torino Calcio, announced his intent to step down after 21 years and to sell the club. He said he is “disponibilissimo a cedere il Toro” and is looking for a wealthy, local entrepreneur who is also a fan, preferring a Torinese investor over foreign funds. Cairo noted that, while interest has been expressed, no binding offers have been received yet.

At the same press event Cairo also presented La7’s 2026‑27 programming schedule. He highlighted the channel’s record ratings, with a 6.1% share in prime‑time and strong viewership among graduates. The lineup confirms most existing presenters and adds new programmes, including the series “M – Il Figlio del Secolo.” He also mentioned the pending contract renewal of news anchor Enrico Mentana, whose future remains uncertain.

Both announcements underscore Cairo’s dual role as a media proprietor and football club owner, signaling potential changes in Italy’s broadcasting landscape and Serie A ownership structure.
