Đurđevac commemorates 245 years of craftsmanship with new monograph
A new monograph titled ‘Obrtništvo Đurđevca – tragovi vremena i ljudi’ (Craftsmanship of Đurđevac – Traces of Time and People) has been presented to commemorate 245 years of organized craftsmanship in Đurđevac.
Authored by historian Nikola Cik, the book provides a historical overview of the region's craft development, ranging from the earliest historical records to the founding of the first craft guild to the modern-day Association of Craftsmen. The publication includes biographies of numerous craftsmen whose work influenced the economic, social, cultural, and political life of the local community.
The presentation, held at the Association of Craftsmen Đurđevac, featured remarks from Edita Janković Hapavel, director of the Museum of the City of Đurđevac, who emphasized the importance of preserving craft heritage. Other speakers included Violeta Jelić of the Croatian Chamber of Crafts, Željka Hasan, and Damir Golubić, president of the local craftsmen's association.
