Đurđevac robbery and double murder case details

In October 2006, a violent robbery and double murder occurred at the Financial Agency (FINA) branch in Đurđevac, Croatia. The perpetrator, 33-year-old Dražen Dorčec from Kalinovac, was motivated by gambling debts and sought to steal approximately 320,000 kuna.

During the attack, Dorčec shot and killed security guard Miroslav Benšić and a customer, Ivan Matišev. Following the crime, Dorčec attempted to conceal his tracks by destroying clothing and hiding part of the stolen loot, even attending the funeral of his cousin, Benšić. After a four-day manhunt, Dorčec was arrested in Kalinovac on October 18, 2006. He subsequently pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 40 years in prison by the County Court in Koprivnica in early 2007.
