Urigood Forte supplement banned in Romania following EU alert

The dietary supplement Urigood Forte with methylene blue has been banned from the Romanian market following a European-level alert. The decision to annul the product's notification certificate was made by the Regional Public Health Center in Iași after a notification was received through the European Union's Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF).

The alert originated from Belgian authorities following a report of a consumer falling ill after using supplements containing methylene blue. The National Institute of Public Health (INSP) stated that the substance is considered harmful to health, leading to the decision to remove the product from all commercial channels, including online pharmacies.

The manufacturer, Co Co Consumer 2002 SRL, has challenged the measure in court, seeking to suspend the decision and claiming the withdrawal causes hundreds of thousands of lei in losses. However, the Bucharest Tribunal rejected the company's request to suspend the ban, ruling that the protection of public health must take precedence over economic interests.
