Urška Žigart confirmed for Tour de France Femmes after injury

Slovenian cyclist Urška Žigart, the top rider in her country's women's peloton, has been cleared to start the Tour de France Femmes, which begins on 1 August in Lyon and runs for eight days. Žigart suffered a serious crash in Switzerland that left her with a fractured jaw, but she avoided surgery and returned to training under close medical supervision. Her recent results include top‑ten finishes in the Spanish and Italian races, underscoring a strong form heading into the French event.

AG Insurance‑Soudal announced the official team roster, confirming Žigart’s participation alongside other riders such as Dutch contender Demi Vollering. The squad will focus on the mountain stages, with Žigart looking forward to the iconic Mont Ventoux climb and a stage around Nice that she describes as “practically home”. Her recovery has been closely managed by doctors, physiotherapists and team staff, allowing her to resume race preparation without a prolonged break.
