Urška Žigart to race at Tour de France Femmes after June crash

Slovenian cyclist Urška Žigart, the nation's top female rider, will start the Tour de France Femmes on 1 August in Lyon despite a serious crash in mid‑June. The accident occurred during the Tour of Switzerland when she hit a road obstacle, was thrown into the air and fractured her jaw. Medical exams showed surgery was unnecessary and the bone healed naturally, allowing her to resume training under medical supervision within weeks.

Žigart, who finished sixth in the Vuelta a España and eighth in the Giro d'Italia earlier this season, is slated to be among the seven‑rider roster for the French stage race that runs from 1 to 9 August. The route includes a historic seventh stage finishing on the iconic Mont Ventoux and concludes in Nice. Her participation marks a rapid return to elite competition only a month after the injury, highlighting her resilience and the support of her AG Insurance–Soudal team.
