Đuro Macut discusses university international rankings

Đuro Macut, the President of the Government of the Republic of Serbia in a technical mandate, met with representatives from several state universities to discuss their standing on international rankings. The discussion included representatives from the universities in Belgrade, Novi Sad, Kragujevac, Niš, Novi Pazar, Priština, and the University of Arts in Belgrade.

The meeting focused on improving the quality and international visibility of Serbian higher education. Key criteria discussed included scientific research, the quantity and quality of scientific publications, citation rates, international cooperation, and the continuity of the teaching process.

Macut emphasized that international rankings are the result of long-term, accumulated work rather than immediate placement. He called for a serious professional analysis of current results and stressed that maintaining the continuity of both teaching and research is essential, as disruptions in one area inevitably impact the other and affect scientific production.
