Urraca Fernández-Caballero releases debut crime novel
Urraca Fernández-Caballero, a pseudonym for a Spanish National Police inspector based in Seville, has published her first novel, ‘Asesinato en el Palacio del Marqués de la Motilla’. The author, who is also a technical architect and a specialist in facial and lofoscopic identification, uses the character Inspector Valeria Vargas as a reflection of herself.
In an interview, the author expressed a desire to return to the classic detective style reminiscent of Agatha Christie, rather than the graphic nature of modern noir. She noted that her professional experience in the Scientific Police Brigade provides a unique perspective on procedural accuracy, which she feels is often lacking in contemporary police television series.
