Cruzeiro pursues Paulinho for technical role and updates loan policies

Cruzeiro is undergoing several organizational and roster shifts. The club is pursuing former Corinthians and Brazil midfielder Paulinho for the role of technical coordinator to bridge the gap between players and management.

Regarding squad management, Cruzeiro’s SAF leadership, led by owner Pedro Lourenço, has implemented a new policy stating the club will no longer subsidize salaries for players sent out on loan. This policy affects forward Gabriel Barbosa, currently on loan at Santos.

On the pitch, the club's attacking trio of Keny Arroyo, Kaio Jorge, and Matheus Pereira has been highly productive, accounting for 70% of the team's 80 goals in 2026.

Several players have also received international recognition. Marília was called up to the Brazilian Women's National Team for upcoming friendlies against Argentina. Additionally, goalkeeper Otávio and attacker Keny Arroyo were called to senior national teams (Brazil and Ecuador, respectively), while Zé Lucas, Otávio Gabriel, and Eduardo Pape were selected for Brazil's youth squads. Conversely, striker João Costa was omitted from the final Portugal U-21 squad list.
