Uruapan implements ‘Taxi Seguro’ program to enhance transport security
The Secretary of Urban Development and Mobility, María Elena Huerta, has issued 134 ‘Taxi Seguro’ certificates to certified taxi drivers in Uruapan, Michoacán. This initiative aims to improve public transportation security and bolster citizen confidence in the service.
To receive the distinction, drivers must meet specific requirements, including maintaining valid insurance policies, proper licensing and documentation, adequate mechanical conditions, road safety training, and passing inspection filters. Accredited vehicles will feature identification badges and QR codes to assist with identification and incident reporting.
Officials noted that over 600 files are currently undergoing the certification process as the municipality works toward a more professional and reliable taxi service.
